I am Char Barnes, and I have been gardening at the same southwestern Connecticut house for more than twenty years. During that time it has gone from a neglected plot to a picturesque garden with paths and curved beds loaded with flowers. I have planted trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
Everything on this site is based on my personal experience and opinion, and I have plenty of both.
The plants we choose will enhance the environment in subtle and profound ways. We have selected three unique large plants that will create the perfect accent to this outdoor setting
This is an exceptional Japanese maple with a graceful form and beautiful leaves. This video is from Plantsman's Corner, a knowledgable and amusing nurseryman from Yorkshire.
This video shows the Black Lace Elderberry used in the back garden. In this video it is trained as a shrub that is dense to the ground. We will be using it as a taller, graceful tree-like form.
Coral Bark Maple - Sango kaku
For the front garden, we have chosen a special Japanese maple with beautiful coral branches. This tree will be a graceful addition to the front and it's coral branches will hint at feature in back.
